Ian was born in Otley, West Yorkshire, England and lives in nearby Yeadon.

He was educated at Aireborough Grammar School and more recently graduating the BA (Hons) Fine Art degree course at Leeds College of Art & Design; the degree work embodies both traditional and contemporary aspects of art (not shown on this site).

Presently Ian enjoys his hobby of painting direct from nature 'en plein air', much of the work done at holiday locations including Ireland 2008 County Clare on the West Coast (per above link).

The drawings shown on this site display some of his earliest works including French cycling hero Bernard Hinault; Ian spent much of his teen years cycling the scenic Yorkshire Dales.

In more recent years, his interest in painting was inspired by a course at St. Ives School of Painting, Cornwall. Pictured in the studio with paintings of the school's founders >
